The 2-week long project 'Let's improve CNN' was all about how we could improve our favorite TV channel CNN. Almost 20 topics have been created and were replied with about 150 articles. The best ideas have been picked out of them and were sent to CNN. We did get a reply from the president of the CNN News Group, Jim Walton.
Here's what he told us:

Thank you for your suggestions and your interest in CNN. It is obvious to me that you have given great thought to your comments and I hope you will continue to monitor our work and occasionally let me know what you are thinking.

Best, Jim Walton

It was a great time debating about each idea. We're sure that we will repeat this project in some time.
The forum where you're ideas can be written in, remains open, so don't hesitate to let us know what you think.

LETTER:

Dear CNN:

Below you will find ideas to improve CNN/U.S. and CNN International from the users of CNNreporter.com, a CNN fanpage. We take the best suggestions from our forum and recommend them to you. Our participants took the time to discuss, debate, and give serious thought as to what might improve CNN's on air product.

CNN/U.S.

1. During the weekday overnight hours, at least one hour simulcast of CNN International. Perhaps at 2:00 AM ET CNN Today, with Paula Zahn Now replaying at 4:00 AM ET.

2. Shows must have real names, like "The News 360° with Anderson Cooper" (or "The News 360°"). The news is the star, not the anchor.

3. A sports segment lasting 10 minutes in one of the prime time shows (perhaps the show at 7:00 PM ET).

4. Bring back the two person anchor format during the day and on the weekends

5. Place the "LIVE" bug underneath the CNN logo

6. More live news updates every half hour and during the night. The "At This Hour" update is not appropriate for today's news updates, and must be redesigned with a new name. The news headlines "At This Hour" are headlines from hours ago.

7. NewsNight as the #1 news show on CNN at 7:00 PM ET. When people get home, they want to get the news of the day, and NewsNight is a much better choice for a daily, compact news hour than Anderson Cooper 360°.

CNN International

1. Graphics on CNN International similar to those from CNN/U.S. to allow for seamless simulcasts between International and U.S. The only difference is the logo.

2. Expand Insight to 1 hour. A full hour of discussion, debate, and insight will give CNN International viewers more variety.

3. One or two hours of CNN/U.S. in place of one or more World News and World Sport weekdays. Fewer World News broadcasts on weekends with CNN Saturday and CNN Sunday in its place.

4. More variety from the bureaus. Use different locations for news updates, instead of relying on just the one newsdesk/spot out of Atlanta and London.

CNN/U.S. and CNN International

1. In Breaking News situations, CNN International teams up with CNN/U.S. to give viewers the latest information available. Often only 1 reporter is on the scene so this joint coverage will be optimal for viewers to watch.

2. A live edition of a news program broadcast from Baghdad, for both CNN/U.S. and CNN International.

Thanks for listening. We would love to receive a reply from CNN and hope our ideas are welcome and considered.

Greetings, the team of CNNFan.com and its users.
